This website contains the work of myself, Brenda J. Paro. I am a freelance writer and photographer originally from the Midwest and currently located in Austin, Texas.

I grew up in southern Minnesota, where I briefly attended college before leaving to move to Omaha. When people ask me why I chose Omaha, it means they've probably never been there, at least not as a young person with a penchant for attending rock shows in people's basements.

After six years and a series of jobs in coffeehouses and cubicles, I returned to Minnesota, where I recently completed my degree at the College of Saint Scholastica in Duluth. I graduated in May 2009 with a major in English and a minor in Photography. In fall of 2009 I relocated to Austin, Texas out of a love for the city and a hope for something new.

I began freelancing on a full-time basis in 2006, as a way to get through college without the time restrictions of a typical job. I'm lucky enough to get paid to do the things I adore.

Other things I adore, for which I don't get paid, include: drinking black coffee, thrift shopping, reconstructing clothing, listening to music at unacceptable decibels, wearing scarves without a jacket, and taking long drives to see where I end up.
